Paris(but not only)  Personal Tours

The Island Sainte-Marguerite is the biggest of the four Lérins Islands just in front of Cannes.

It can be reached by boat from Cannes (15mn ride) or directly from Saint-Raphael (1h10 ride). No cars on this island: we cover all the grounds on foot! But:

1) the vegetation is so welcoming.

2) the island is not very big: only 1.9 miles long and 3000 feet wide, which makes it the equivalent of 12 City Islands (a measure which makes sense for the Parisians) and we don't need to cover ALL the grounds.

There are very nice reserved areas for picnic on the island (with proper tables and benches) or we could eat at the restaurant here below. What do you say?

And besides the natural beauty of the island, the highlight of your day will be the visit of the 17th century fortress where the illustrious "Man in the Iron Mask" was emprisoned for 11 years. What a fascinating story that I could tell you about while we tour the island! Just saying...

Here are two views from the island with the town of Cannes only half a mile away in the distance:

Airlock was "de rigueur" for the Man in the Iron Mask...

Because even the "Sun King" had a dark side...
