Noun :
1. a disciple or student of the Greek philosopher Epicurus (341-270 BC).
2. a person devoted to sensual enjoyment, especially that derived from fine food and drink.
Strangely, those two definitions are incompatible as Epicurus' doctrine has been commonly misunderstood since the Antiquity: he did not encourage good food or good wine at all as he was a vegan (who made an exception for cheese) who advocated moderation above all things and whose main definition of pleasure was "the absence of suffering"...
I nevertheless recognize myself in definition 2.
And this is a good opportunity for me to make it clear that Epicurus never said "let them eat cake" either!
